Our office is a fully staffed family practice that has been offering complete dental care to adults and children for more than 25 years. Our services include Cosmetic, Orthodontics with Dr. Eger, as well as Periodontal Care with Dr. Stanard.

Dr. Karen Harriman & Dr. Michael Lasher

Doctors Lasher and Harriman are members of the American Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association. They also belong to the Paxtuxent Dental Society. In addition to their normal practice, they also work with the community to assist in enhancing oral health. Your health is their priority.

Dr. Michael Lasher, DDS

Dr. Lasher received a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in Biochemistry. He then went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University Of Maryland Baltimore College Of Dental Surgery in 1979. Dr. Lasher received honors in Prostodontics and a fellowship in Geriatric Care at the Waxner Center in Baltimore Maryland.

Dr. Lasher is a member of the American Dental Association and has been a Delegate to the Maryland State Dental Associations House of Delegates for the last 10 years.

Dr. Lasher has lived in Southern Maryland since he was 10 years old. He graduated from Crossland High School in 1969 and moved to Charles County in 1979.

Dr. Lasher’s practice philosophy is to treat all patients with kindness and respect, as he would like to be treated. His main objective is to help his patients achieve a smile they are happy with.

Dr. Karen Harriman, DDS

Dr. Harriman has been practicing dentistry in Waldorf, Maryland for over 15 years. A native of Ontario, Canada, she received an Honors Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Guelph. She then went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University in 1994, graduating with honors. Prior to joining Dr. Lasher, Dr. Harriman spent a year and a half practicing dentistry and working with the Inuit, in the Canadian Arctic.

Dr. Harriman is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the American Dental Association, the Maryland Dental Association and the Patuxent Dental Society.

Away from the office, Dr. Harriman loves spending time with her husband and two children, and enjoys a variety of sports, including skiing, both water and downhill, running and pilates.

Dr. Harriman’s practice philosophy is to help you achieve your optimal oral health utilizing the highest standard of care in the most comfortable way possible.

Dr. Marc P. Stanard, DDS Periodontist

Dr. Marc Stanard, DDS Periodontist

Dr. Marc P. Stanard is a fully trained and experienced specialist in the field of Periodontology and the placement of dental implants. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1989. He then pursued a 2 year certificate in advanced post-graduate dentistry at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Stanard matriculated to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center affiliated with Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee to complete a post-graduate residency in Periodontics in 1993.

Dr. Stanard is well versed in all aspects of periodontal and implant care including non-surgical, surgical modalities and occlusion.

Dr. Stanard is an active member of The American Academy of Periodontology, The American Dental Association, American Academy of Oral Medicine, The DC Dental Society, Maryland State Dental Association, and Southern Maryland Dental Society.

Dr. Stanard originally hails from Connecticut and currently resides in Montgomery County with his fiancée, while his daughter attends college in Florida. In his free time he enjoys working out, reading, music, wine & cooking.

Dr. Stanard’s treatment philosophy: Diagnose and treat all patients with a caring, educational, and practical approach. I provide dental therapy as I would wish to be treated if I were the patient.

Dr. Dorie Eger, DDS, MS

Dr. Dorie Eger, DDS, MS Orthodontist

Dr. Dorie Eger is uniquely trained as a specialist in both Periodontics and Orthodontics. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1995, graduating first in her class. Continuing her studies at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, she completed post graduate residency programs in both Periodontics and Orthodontics in 1997 and 2001 respectively. Along with certificates in both of these areas, she earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology.

Having practiced in both specialty areas, Dr. Eger now limits her practice to Orthodontics, but brings to this specialty area her expertise and knowledge associated with her advanced training.

Dr. Eger is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the American Dental Association.

Born and raised in Maryland, Dr. Eger lives in Montgomery County with her husband and 2 children. She most enjoys spending time with her family, martial arts training (she has black belts in Tang Soo Do and Tai Jitsu), and riding her motorcycle.

Dr. Eger’s practice philosophy: To provide excellent orthodontic care and treatment in order to give each patient a healthy and attractive smile they can feel great about!

Dr. Joe Vargas, DDS

Dr. Joseph Vargas earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. After completing four years of training he elected to further his studies by completing a one year general practice residency at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Hospital, where he received extensive training in implant placement and restorative, crown and bridge, oral surgery, and cosmetic procedures.

He is strong believer in continuing education, and is a member of the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Patuxent Dental Society.

A local Marylander, Dr. Vargas was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He also attended The University of Maryland, College Park for his undergraduate degree. Away from the office, Dr. Vargas enjoys spending time with his wife, Lucy, home improvement projects, a variety of sports, and playing guitar.
